Winston Wächter is pleased to announce the exhibition of Erin Parish's new works. Parish's large paintings integrate a repetition of geometric forms on multi-layered compositions. Her new works convey the artist's interest in more metallic surfaces, which transform textures and lend the paintings a more reflective, glimmering quality. In her paintings, Parish fuses assemblage and abstract association in an elegantly controlled visual space. As the artist implements a technique of formal collapse and layering, she allows the viewer to ponder the manifold associations and implications within seemingly simple geometric forms.

The aesthetic and psychological process of creation and free association within the defined space of the canvas remain key to experiencing Parish's work. She layers and imprints memories, recollections and dreams unto each composition allowing her creative impulse the freedom to roam the canvas. In these recent works, Parish continues to explore the myriad layers of simple geometry as they reflect complex humanity. The archetypal circle interspersed throughout the canvas and the reflective surface of her works impels us to contemplate the layers of the painting and the depth of our humanity.

Erin Parish was born in 1966 and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She currently lives and works in New York City.
