New Paintings
November 20, 2008 – January 3, 2009

Winston Wächter Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work from painter Hiro Yokose.

Low horizon lines separating sea from sky and the occasional stand of trees allow the paintings by Hiro Yokose to be read as landscapes. However, it is the light that emanates from behind his final coat of beeswax, as well as the lush surfaces created from his material that is the real subject of the work.

Yokose’s use of color, from its near absence in some works, to the improbably bold swatches in others, is one of the unique qualities that separate his paintings from other works in this genre. Though there is a faint connection to the Asian landscape tradition in the inky suggestion of distant mountain ranges and the shapes of Yokose's trees, these landscapes are entirely the escapist fantasy of the artist.

Drew Ernst
Get Out of My Head
November 20, 2008 – January 3, 2009

Winston Wächter Fine Art is pleased to announce the opening of our premiere solo exhibition featuring the work of painter Drew Ernst.

New York-based artist Drew Ernst has studied with an array of esteemed artists in his young career including Bo Bartlett, Sidney Goldman, and Peter Paone. Ernst graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 2002.

Drew is a gifted artist with a keen eye for realistic detail. His work deals with the full spectrum of emotion, which is conveyed within the context of his art. Ernst creates oil paintings in a striking style, painted on aluminum panels. His work has a contemplative and narrative quality that creates a feeling of mystery surrounding his subjects.

Says Ernst of his process, “The painting of these works is fueled by raw emotion. It is the feeling that goes into these paintings that matter. And amazing things happens when you love hard and paint hard. You become one with the work.”
