In addition, on Thursday, January 26th, from 6-7:30pm, Winston Wächter will be hosting a talk with the artists and guest lecturer Elizabeth A. Brown, Chief Curator and Director of Exhibitions & Collections at the Henry Art Gallery.
Susan Dory creates abstract paintings, which investigate issues of repetition variation, time and precarious balance. This most recent body of work is rooted in nature then combined with intuitive and unusual color combinations, allowing the compositions to grow and evolve organically. Dory has received both national and local awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, the Willard R. Espy Foundation Artist-in-Residence Fellowship and the Behnke Foundation's Neddy Artist Fellowship.

Brian Murphy uses watercolor to create introspective self-portraits. He uses fleshy, bold colors to transcend the typical idea of the self-portrait by embracing an honest self-representation. Moreover, Murphy creates invisible and reductive areas, which allude to the mass and solidity of the human form. In 2001, Murphy received the Seattle Art Museum's Betty Bowen Memorial award. In addition to his solo exhibition at Winston Wachter Fine Art, Brian Murphy will be participating in a group show at the University of Puget Sound's Kittredge Gallery.
