Angelina Nasso Tracy Rocca
Angelina Nasso’s work focuses on expressing elements of nature through color and abstraction. Nasso layers her surfaces with luminous fields of fluid transparent paint. The surface becomes intensely chromatic and are further populated by spots and disks that seem to float on the glossy surface. These forms are deeply layered and each is informed by the preceding marks left behind. The hardness and softness of her brushwork and her gorgeous jewel-like colored surfaces create both clarity and ambiguity, and spaces that advance and recede deep into the canvas.

Tracy Rocca’s paintings are abstracted interpretations of landscapes. This new body of work is inspired by Rocca’s recent move from the Bay Area to the more rural New Mexico. Her landscapes have changed dramatically after the recent move and she began working with linseed oil, which has allowed her to slow down the painting process and give the pieces a more expressive nature. Most of her works depict unpopulated areas, which remind the viewer of the peacefulness and calmness of the landscape.
